The Sleepwalking catalogue (paperback, 25 pages, high-quality paper) is available from Emilia Telese for £3.00 + p&p
Sleepwalking is a live, video and sound installation that explores issues of sensory, physical and reflected memory through intimate research of transposed experience.
The exhibition comprises of number of elements including performance, video installation and digital sculpture. Sleepwalking recovers and reconstructs the journey Telese’s father made to the New Forest shortly before his death in September 2001, a journey from which she was absent. It is a daughters attempt to recreate lost memories, to share the unshared, to celebrate and remember her father’s life. Sleepwalking is also an insight into the physical aspects and consequences of sleep, its sensory implications and its quality during illness.
Works featured in the exhibition include:
- PLAY – A digitally sculptured space where people will be able to participate in a generative game inspired by car journeys. The installation display is influenced according to how the game is played.
Play the car plate game
- SLEEP – A video and 3D photography environment exploring sleep and the search of the self, including footage filmed during Emilia Telese’s residency in the New Forest.
- RECALL – An interactive installation with a live link to a web cam at ArtSway, connected to a remote location where Telese will be sleeping on agreed days during the exhibition, according to the exact pattern of her father?s illness-induced sleep.
