Performance-to-print installation, etchings on zinc, 2022i2023 Luna Rossa is an installation of performance-to-print etchings by Emilia Telese Telese created and recorded performance pieces featuring herself and items of Icelandic furniture, subsequently hand-etching them on zinc. She then printed the performance etchings employing a sernl—abstract technique, making them akin to the phases of the Moon. The resulting pieces form Luna Rossa I Rauoa Tunglio, an installation exploring the contrast between TeIese’s Southern Italian heritage and familiar objects of Icelandic culture, as well as meditating on the nature and value of ephemeral and tangible artefacts, technical skill and conceptual research, mapping physical and emotional travels between Italy and Iceland. The position of the etchings is precisely configured using a rhythmical diagram, and forms an imaginary dialogue between the subject, her thoughts and her environment. Shown for the first time during Emilia TeIese’s solo exhibition at Grafiksalurinn Galleri, Hafnarhus, Reykjavik, in March 2023.
